AdvancedMD Appoints Brandon Russell to Chief Customer Officer

AdvancedMD, a provider of cloud-based healthcare software for independent medical practices, today announced Brandon Russell has been appointed Chief Customer Officer (CCO). Russell will oversee the AdvancedMD Customer Success Operations, including the Support, Implementation, and Customer Success and Adoption teams. As CCO, he will further strengthen and scale the company’s customer‑centric culture across the organization.

AdvancedMD provides EHR, practice management, and patient engagement solutions for more than 65,000 practitioners across 13,000 independent practices in the ambulatory and mental health care space, in addition to partnering with 850 independent medical billing companies. Within his role as CCO, Russell aims to build more streamlined onboarding processes for AdvancedMD customers, working to enable a quicker time to value with their healthcare technology investments, while also helping practice leaders and their staff identify opportunities for operational improvement.

According to a recent Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) survey, nearly 60% of practice leaders said that implementing automation capabilities and process fixes were their top cost-cutting goals in 2026—two initiatives directly tied to a practice’s technology investments. Meanwhile, KLAS Research revealed provider satisfaction with EHR implementations has consistently declined since 2022, with just 38% of organizations confirming recent implementations “hit the mark”. In fact, according to KLAS, 75% of healthcare employees dissatisfied with EHR implementation processes continue to report low overall satisfaction with their EHR platform two years later.

“Ultimately, my job is to remove friction for our customers, whether they are implementing our solutions for the first time or scaling their healthcare technology stack to drive growth across the practice. I want to help every independent practice that implements our solutions obtain value from their investment as quickly as possible,” said Russell. “Among the things that attracted me most to AdvancedMD was its people-first culture, where everyone across the organization is genuinely committed to doing right by our customers and each other. That tone starts at the top with CEO Amanda Sharp, and it resonates throughout the entire team.”

Prior to joining AdvancedMD, Russell served as the Senior Vice President of Customer Success for NetDocuments, an enterprise content management platform. He has held multiple customer success leadership roles for top technology organizations, including Ivanti and NiCE. Russell brings more than fifteen years of customer service and customer success experience to his role as Chief Customer Officer for AdvancedMD.

According to AdvancedMD CEO Amanda Sharp, “Brandon is exactly the type of leader AdvancedMD needs at such a pivotal time for the ambulatory care community, when independent providers need all the support they can get. He brings deep expertise in customer success, but more importantly, he shares our belief that exceptional customer experiences begin with a people-first mindset. We know that when you invest in your team and create a culture where people feel valued and empowered, they naturally bring that same care and commitment to every customer interaction. Brandon embodies that philosophy.”
